There's a lot to do around here. Summer or winter, Midcoast Maine is alive with activities. Before coming to the concert, here are some ideas for making magical memories.
Camden Hills State Park
Maine is blessed with a huge number of green spaces, including some of the most spectacular state parks in the nation. Nearby Camden Hills State Park offers unlimited hiking opportunities with incredible views of Penobscot Bay and Megunticook Lake atop Mt. Battie and Mt. Megunticook. If you're not into hiking to the top you can take the auto road to the scenic peak of Mt. Battie.
Center for Maine Contemporary Art
CMCA is a nonprofit organization advancing contemporary art in Maine through exhibitions and educational programs. CMCA offers an active year-round exhibition schedule, and is located in charming downtown Rockport. Come to one of our Thursday Night Summer Music Festival concerts, then join the musicians at CMCA afterwards for a cookie and fantastic art.
Art Galleries
Midcoast Maine is home to nuerous art galleries showcasing a wide variety of styles and media. The Landing Gallery, located at 8 Elm St. in Rockland, is featuring photographs of the Down East by Michael Kahn through August 3. Also in Rockland is Harbor Square Gallery, located at 374 Main Street. Harbor Square Gallery features fine art jewelry by gallery director and sculptor/goldsmith Thomas O'Donovan. Eric Hopkins Gallery, located at 21 Winter Street in Rockland, is another fine gallery featuring beautiful paintings of the Maine coast.
Down East Magazine
Down East Enterprise is a multimedia company based in Rockport, Maine, devoted to celebrating "Maine at its Best." Founded in 1954, the company’s flagship publication, Down East: The Magazine of Maine, has become synonymous with the state itself and today ranks as Maine's premier magazine with more than 100,000 subscribers around the world. Today, Down East delivers not only the best available coverage of lifestyle, destination, and "good curiosities" in Maine, but it also zooms in on hot topics for Mainers and those who love the Pine Tree State.

Whatever you're looking for, you'll find it here. There are a number of small, family-owned stores that are a part of the fabric of life. Walk the streets of Camden, Rockland or Belfast and stop in to see what's on sale. Or cruise through Lincolnville Beach, Rockport or Thomaston and stop in at any of the numerous antique, art and boutique shops.
Cellardoor Winery
Located adjacent to Camden Hills State Park, Cellardoor Winery makes wine the Old World way, harvesting cold weather grapes from Maine’s only winery vineyard, pressing and aging in their cellar. Stop by their villa at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 90 in Rockport.
Everyman Repertory Theatre

Penobscot Marine Museum
The Penobscot Marine Museum was founded in 1936 and is Maine’s oldest maritime museum. Its Searsport grounds comprise 13 historic buildings, including ship captains’ residences, an early town hall and a commercial structure. Eight of the buildings are on the
National Register of Historic Places, and together they represent Searsport when it was a
bustling port during the Age of Sail. Inside the historic structures - artifacts, exhibits and
interpreters tell the stories of Maine’s seafaring past.
Owls Head Transportation Museum
The Owls Head Transportation Museum has one of the finest collections of pioneer-era aircraft and automobiles in the world. More than 100 historic aircraft, automobiles, bicycles, carriages and engines are on permanent display. Once every year or two, we'll hold a dance party at the Museum, where you can dance to the sounds of a Big Band while swinging your partner among the planes and autos.
Maine Windjammer Association
Maine's tall ship sailing adventures are a wonderful way to escape the hectic pace of the new millennium, complete with the spectacular scenery of the Maine coast, outstanding food and interesting shipmates. On every windjammer cruise, lighthouses, seabirds, seals, and porpoises abound, with ever-changing scenery around every rocky bend.
The Farnsworth Art Museum
Located in Rockland, the Farnsworth
offers a nationally recognized collection of American art in its elegantly appointed galleries. Such great names in 18th- and 19th-century American art history as Gilbert Stuart, Thomas Sully, Thomas Eakins, Eastman Johnson, Fitz Hugh Lane, Frank Benson, Childe Hassam, Maurice Prendergast and the Wyeths, are represented in the museum's permanent collection.

Maine is graced with a number of local farms and dairies, many of them organic. Sample some Maine fare by visiting one of the farmers markets.

Maine Lighthouse Museum
The Maine Lighthouse Museum is the proud home of the largest collection of Fresnel lighthouse lenses and the most important landmark collection of lighthouse artifacts and Coast Guard memorabilia in the United States. The Maine Lighthouse Museum is a must-see for anyone interested in lighthouses and American maritime history. And you can't miss out on Owls Head Light and the Rockland Breakwater.
Windsor Chairmakers
Visit their showroom and workshop, located on Route 1 in Lincolnville. They'll kindly give you a tour of their uniquely decorated 14 rooms, highlighting the beauty of the natural woods and finishes of their furniture. Visitors are welcome to view the showroom, watch artisans at work in the shop or feed the Scottish Highland cows.
