Back by popular demand - Bay Chamber is please to present The Engagments in a free outdoor concert overlooking beautiful Camden Harbor. As anyone who attended last year's event can tell you, the Engagements are energetic, fun, and intense, delivering a crowd-pleasing mix of classic funk and soul covers, R&B & Motown hits, as well as party favorites from the 70's, 80's and 90's.  Sure to get you moving, this concert is part of Camden’s Festival of Independence, and will conclude with evening fireworks!

New music by US based composers born in other countries. Moved by both their individual stories and their music, Bridget commissioned works whose inspiration is based in folk idioms from each composer’s country of origin, as well as from their personal narratives. This multi-media concert features new works by: Kati Agocs (Canada), Kinan Azmeh (Syria), David Bruce (Venezuela), Susie Ibarra (Philippines), Paquito d’Rivera (Cuba), and Du Yun (China).

A special concert that juxtaposes music by Bach with new music, this event marks the World Premiere of a Bay Chamber Concerts’ commission, THE HUBBLE CANTATA, a spectacular contemporary cantata composed by Paola Prestini for soprano Jessica Rivera and the renowned International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). The piece is inspired by newly released Hubble telescope images and is a collaboration of librettist Royce Vavrek, filmmaker Carmen Kordas and the astrophysicist, Dr. Mario Livio of the Space Telescope Science Institute.
